Today was my first day of my new exercise challenge. In the mornings, I am doing tai cheng (basically tai chi taught by a Beach Body instructor). In the afternoon, I am doing DDP yoga. Throughout the day I will get in some form of walking as well as Mummy Tummy exercises.
It sounds drastic (at least to me), but I want to try it at least. After only one session, I am loving the tai chi. Mummy Tummy did not happen today due to lack of preparation. I am very skeptical about the yoga. I've never been a big fan, and the first workout showed me that DDP and I don't quite click. I'm going to do it for a week and reevaluate my feelings. My other thought is that I know some yoga moves can cause (or worsen) a diastasis, which is what I'm doing the Mummy Tummy techniques to correct, so I'm wondering if I should wait until after my diastasis is gone before I actually pursue the yoga. Hmm. I'll think on it.
After doing the tai chi, I felt great. It felt like I was looser, like my feet had been freed a little and were landing much more easily, like muscles had been relaxed and my back had been realigned a little. Muscles were not as tight. Places that have been needing or wanting to pop on me on a regular basis no longer felt that need. Joints moved more smoothly. I learned three things--my wrists are incredibly weak, my balance is fairly good, and I have trigger points in my legs. Woo! Haha. It was great to feel results just after one workout.
